From what I understand, there have been problems getting certain Creative Labs sound cards to work properly in Vista, even though they claim the cards are Vista compatible. A guy by the nick of “Daniel_K” (on the Creative Labs forums) hacked together drivers that actually work, as well as provide extra functionality on certain cards.
Technically (legally) he shouldn’t have done this, as it breaks the EULA and Copyright and blah blah blah, fair enough, so Creative Labs went and did this:

A new program has just been released for Team Fortress 2, called “TF2 Stats”, which reads in one of your game files and displays all kinds of interesting information (even more than the score board does). The guy who coded it, did it over the Easter weekend – not bad for a few days work.
It just reads in one of the files (“tf2_playerstats.dmx”) from your game directory (“Steam\SteamApps\<username>\team fortress 2\tf”) – so you don’t need to give it your Steam login details or anything risky like that. I’ve taken a quick look through the code (sneaky sneaky me) and I can’t see anything malicious, so I’m presuming it’s safe to use.
The only down-side to it is that it requires the .NET Framework 2.0, 3.0, or 3.5 (it has builds for all three), but then again everything else seems to these .NET these days so shouldn’t be a problem for most people.

You can download it from my site.
I read about it here, more information here, and the official link (I think) is here.

There’s this Team Fortress 2 player, called “Reptile” (who’s really good as soldier) and there’s a video out of him on the net that’s really worth watching. I’d recomment NOT watching the YouTube version, but rather downloading the high quality version from Team Pandemic (direct link).

This morning I read about “Dota Client“, which I haven’t heard about or used before so I figured I’d download it – only problem was I couldn’t find a working download link, the “official” had a wait time of nearly and hour, and all the forums I found with it required me to register but then kicked me out every time I tried to download the file.
Eventually I managed to get it, so here it is… a download link for Dota Client 1.8 (dcsetup-1-8.exe).

Firefox 3 beta 4 has just been released (which means there’s a Firefox 3 beta 4 Portable, by PortableApps.com out as well)… which is great, because Firefox is becoming better (and faster) with every release. Unfortunately it takes a while for addon/extension developers to update their extensions to support these new versions/beta’s – luckily it’s really easy to hack them to get them installed (though they don’t always work) – some haven’t been updated since Firefox 2.0.0.1!
Below is a list of the extensions I’ve used, which I’ve hacked to work with version “*”. Yup, that’s right, an asterisk… in otherwords any/every future version of Firefox… which admittedly probably isn’t a good idea, but it will save me having to edit them each and every time I install a new beta. I would suggest NOT using my hacked versions of the extensions, and waiting for developers to release an updated version, but if you just can’t wait, keep reading…

My brother has to learn “LINGO” for varsity… basically it’s a programming language “to make building and solving linear, nonlinear and integer optimization models”. Yeh I’m not really sure what any of that means either, but I’m the computer programmer in the family, and my brother’s the genius/mathematician so I said I’d try and figure it out and teach him…
